Rock Bridges by angrymikko Rock Bridges by angrymikko
I wanted to create a scenery you could wander into. The main goal was to make the eye follow the bridges into the distance. It's always as challenging to paint the sense of scale into a painting. I like to create places that I can feel relaxed in and I hope some of you feel the same way. Remember not to rush trough all the paintings with a terrifying clicking speed :gallery: :police: :relax:

That's a really nice picture. I've draw a graffiti version of it on a paper, but it didn't turn out so well. Nelli showed me this, and you might know her, since she knows you. :)

I like this so much! I'm having a hard time picking a favorite. They're all so good!

I really love the colors on this one. I have such a hard time doing backgrounds like this. Do you have any quick advice?

Wow, this is really cool! What program do you use? I'm trying to get good at scenery stuff, but all I have is Corel Painter Essentials...

That's a great program. The software isn't at all important. I use artrage and other FREE software all the time. I really suggest artrage to anyone even if you could afford the latest high end image editing software out there. In truth you only need a brush to paint and most current day software have so many features that aren't really needed for painting at all. I painted this in photoshop, but used mainly only one brush like I usually do. Image editing capabilities of photoshop were only good for adding texture which would look much better hand painted anyway. I painted my previous image called "Silence" mostly in painter with the same basic brush that's available also in painter essentials.

Btw I know I'll sound like a commercial but the full version of art rage 2 costs nearly nothing compared to painter. The free version of it is very solid piece of software.

I didn't know any of that stuff, I thought with the "better" programs you could get better color and detial. Thanks, I'll have to look for art rage.

What brush did you use in this? The digital airbrush?

Hey Angry Mikko! We love the artwork, and would love to make you more happy! Very intriguing and fantasy like! I'm in a band called "Opal Stone". We are fairly new, but are planning on releasing an album within a couple of months and are searching for artwork that will work with our themes and style. We have a song called "Build This Bridge", we'd love to use this artwork on our album, and possibly our up and coming website. We are an independent group and are just starting out, so we dont have much $$$. But, maybe you would like us to promote your art with your name, on our stuff, in exchange for using yours? Is this possible? If not, please let us know what u think is fair, and whether or not u are interested. Thanks so much, please get back to us as soon as possible. Thanks so much for your beautiful art;)
Mandy of Opal Stone
PS. check out what we got on our MySpace so far.

your background paintings are simply gorgeous and so professional. I like the fact you still leave it a little "painty" feeling-- it gives it such personality and does not feel overworked.

You probably get asked this a lot, and I'm sorry if you have a FAQ somewhere- but what program are you using? Do you have a tutorial you could share?

Here is an un-program tied tutorial on my painting. Covering the most important steps.
I will not write tutorials on simple "tricks" because I think there are already too much of those and people confuse them with real art skill. It's very easy to find the basic information these days so it feels silly to write it myself in my bad English. I can recommend reading on composition and colour (Itten is good) drawing skill (landscape and human) can be learned by drawing. I don't feel like I'm anywhere near learning the things I want to master so I can only point at the old masters and urge people to study them.

Karmean komee. Tuonne ois tosiaan mukava vaellella ja kä;ppäillä ympäriinsä ihastelemassa maisemaa. Ja kenties hyppelehtiä hieman noilla silloilla ja vahingossa pudota jokeen.

Ihailen aika paljon kaikkia, ketkä osaa maalata maisemia.

Wow! Makes me think of Middle Earth (or some other once natural place slipping into an industrialised revolution). My favourite part(s) are: The cliff on the right (yes, that one, looks like it's been painted in watercolours or some similar material), the dribble of sandy dirt in the foreground (falling into the water), and (of course) the strange contraption in the background. It makes me wonder what precisely it's for...human transportation? Transportation of goods or materials for building? Is it grounded by tethers or some sort of retractable pulley system, or is it a flying machine?...
Too many thoughts
:blushes: Sorry for the long response, but I love it! :+favlove:
