This lineart is as close as I think I'm going towards "fan art". It's inspired by one game I've been playing lot of and it keeps on surprising me with it's seemingly endless depth. A real difficulty curve and meaningful customization combined with a deep storyline.
The game is called Final Fantasy XI.
I really felt XIII was an action game where constant saves and auto-battle functions made the game so passive that I felt like it didn't need me to be holding the controller to finish it. To me the whole game seemed to be like a parody of modern game design.
But not XI it feels more like a hyper version of FFIII where even normal fights can become a battle for life and death and the player is severely punished for failing. This in turn makes the game a lot more rewarding to play.
Besides I just like running around as a knee-high tarutaru blasting nukes!
art babble:
First I drew this piece digitally and it looked to me quite okay. I felt some uncertainty with my lines however in the coloring face and that's why I re-drew the whole thing with pencil. Just to see if I can really say that the digital drawing really doesn't need pencil lines. This might be a personal choice but in my view the pencil edition is far better than the digital one. I might post a comparison image in the scraps when the painting is done. (remember to bug me about it if I forget!)
I think I was trying to draw a cat back there but it turned out to look like a dog/pig-thing. I thought it was funny so I left it as it is. (note to self draw some damn cats!)
The coloring is so far looking very Russian (!?) so I might end up completely re-painting this for the 3rd time. But I wanna keep that XI feel with the colors even if this isn't "fan art".
I know I probably should be painting something more meaningful but I like bunnies and bears. I'm sorry!
Thanks. Let's call it "inspired" by rather than fanart since there's actually nothing here seen in XI. I wish I could ride bears too but they probably wouldn't be as fast as chocobos.
Hahaha, that's awesome <3 Nicely done~ I've been wanting to play FFXI, but I don't got the monies for a subscription (yet!!!) nor do I have the hookup to make it online o.O *sigh* But yea, most of the FF games are pretty awesome. <3
I figured that it's going to take 7 months for this game that cost me all of 5€ to cost what other games do. Now it's become like a warm blanket to return to. When I'm disappointed by new games that I play (I could insert a list here) I feel comfort in the fact that there's still stuff to discover in XI and I know it's good. I have this thing that if I play a bunch of sucky games in a row I might lose interest in playing anything for a long time. Of all the FFs IX is still my favourite.
Yea. As of late I've been running very tight on cash, and so I've been selling a lot of old games that I haven't played in like...ever. And now I have like...three or four left? Pokemon SoulSilver and Heroes of Mana...and I'm actually contemplating on selling pkmn back and getting something else (I beat like most of it soooo, and I'm by no means a perfectionist XD).
I'm a 7-year vet on Quetzy. Which server are you on?
I'm on Seiferdincht on Asura.
Riding a Baa would be priceless though...
I've seen concept art that had Goblins fighting on the backs of lizards. It was awesome.
Nicely done~
