Every time I draw flowers I remember this one art teacher that hated me. She always said that "This would be good but you draw like a girl!" It was NOT a compliment because of the way she said it.
"Impulse" Sumi-e on paper and a turpentine washed print.
Still drawing like a girl but not giving as many fucks as I used to. \o/ Don't let art teachers or anyone else bully you with their binary gender roles that they want to project onto your art. Tell them to go make their own fucking art.
Sorry for being so absent. The work I've been doing over the past few months is for the exhibition. Out of which I'm going to have also 4 pieces in a group exhibition in November. I want to post these pieces online only after the exhibitions are over. Still looking for a place for my solo exhibition. I can't wait to do more silly stuff after the whole project is done. My subject has been a bit on the heavy side.
Yeah, I guess that's a characteristic of the human psyche... trying to proyect itself or to control others' mindset.
ANYWAYS, now a word on the artwork lol i like this smokey effect you achieved. Did this piece require mainly light thin strokes? Because the petals look like broad strokes but then I see other strokes (thinner) on top.
And yes she was a female art teacher.
If only she had been able to witness my concept art class few weeks ago where I did a whole rant (with slides!) about gender equality and gender expression in character art.
Thank you for taking a look.
Even we females are sometimes guilty of saying "girl" with a negative connotation because that's what we were always surrounded by, that same mindset. :/
